The effect of antibacterial agents in treatment of chronic nonbacterial prostatitis

Abstract Purpose: To study the effect of antibacterial agents in the treatment of chronic nonbacterial prostatitis(CNP).Methods: 60 outpatients from Dec 1998 to May 1999 were randomly grouped in two groups .One group patients were treated with prostat and three kinds antibacterial agents ,the other group patients were treated with prostat only. The treatment period was 3 months, and follow-up were done every month.Results: There remains no predominant statistically differences between these two groups ,presenting basic similarities in the rates of the symptomatic relieves, the symptomatic score(SFQ) improvements and the decrease of leucocytes (WBC)counting in EPS(expressed prostatic secretion).Conclusions: Antibacterial agents can elevate the cure rate of the CNP with the prostate calculi, and can improve the quality and quantity of the semen.
