Abstract Purpose:This paper explores in the light of sclerotherapy to renal cyst under the condition of intervenous ultrasound. Methods:From 1991 to 1998 three kinds of sclerotherapy of paracentesis, using respectively absolute alcohol, achromycin injection and acidulated vitamin C injection, and guided by ultrasonography, were performed on 216 subjects suffering renal cyst. Results:Statisitc data collected from interviews with these subjects three months after the operation show that either the cyst disappeared or the cyst diameter was shrunk by 1/2, indicating the effectiveness of the method.Among these cases, the effectiveness produced by absolute alcohol accounts for 95.74%(90 out of 94 cases); the ffectiveness produced by achromycin injection accounts for 89.74%(35 out of 39 cases) and the effectiveness by acidulated vitamin C injection,93.98%(78 out of 83 cases); The χ2-test shows no significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusions:This shows that the sclerotherapy of paracentesis using intervenous ultrasound to renal cyst proves to be simple, effective, precise and produces less side-effect,thus one of the optimum therapy for renal cyst nowadays.
