原因
腱鞘囊肿最常被接受的可能原因是“突出假说”，通过这种假说，它们被认为是“关节囊或腱鞘的弱化部分的外包裹或扩张”。该描述基于囊肿发生在肌腱和关节附近的观察结果。囊肿的微观解剖结构类似于腱鞘组织，其组成与滑液相似。注入关节囊的染料经常最终进入囊肿，活动后可能会变大。然而，注射到囊肿中的染料很少进入关节，这可归因于有效且单向的“止回阀”的明显形成，允许流体从关节中流出，但不能返回。[6]

治疗
如果一个人没有痛苦，他们应该只是放心，肿块不是癌症，等待肿块自行消失。[22]大约45％的人在六年内未经治疗就解决了，而在10年内解决了50％。[22]

预测
